LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 (UPI) — Toni Braxton biopic Unbreak My Heart released a first trailer this week.
The preview is set to the 48-year-old singer’s 1996 hit song of the same name, and lauds Braxton’s accomplishments while hinting at her troubled personal life and health issues.
Newcomer Lex Scott Davis, niece to singer-songwriter Rico Love, portrays Braxton, with Andre Hall as the singer’s ex-husband, Keri Lewis, and Gavin Houston and Greg Davis, Jr., as producers Kenny “Babyface” Edmunds and LA Reid.
Debbi Morgan also stars as Braxton’s mom, Evelyn Braxton, with Skye P. Marshall, Tiffany Hines, Cortney Scott Wright and LaToya Franklyn as sisters Towanda, Tamar, Traci and Trina Braxton, respectively.
Braxton executive produced Unbreak My Heart, which is based on her 2014 memoir of the same name. The movie will follow the ups and downs of her personal life and career, including her 67 million records sold, seven Grammy awards, illness and divorce.
Unbreak My Heart will premiere Jan. 23 on Lifetime. Braxton last released Love, Marriage & Divorce with Babyface in February 2014, and has starred on WE series Braxton Family Values with her mom and sisters since 2011.
