Lil' Kim added to list of honorees at VH1 Hip Hop Honors

NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) — Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil’ Kim will join a number of other notable female hip-hop artists in being honored by VH1.

VH1 announced that Lil’ Kim will join Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pepa on the list of honorees at their VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens live event in New York on Monday, July 11th at 9 p.m.

“After a six-year hiatus, the revered VH1 HIP HOP HONORS is back celebrating the best and brightest in hip-hop with a twist,” the station said in a statment, “This year’s live event will pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers and trend-setters who led a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.”

Lil’ Kim will be recognized for her career as “a Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum rapper, singer, actress and fashion icon,” whose debut single Hardcore went double platinum.

She also set a record for female rappers by releasing three consecutive number 1 rap hits and also released three consecutive platinum albums.

Her most recent release was a mixtape titled “#LILKIMSEASON” and she will be touring as part of the Bad Boy Reunion Tour in the summer following her appearance at VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
