MIAMI, Nov. 4 (UPI) — A Miami Beach estate thought to still be under the ownership of rapper Lil Wayne was raided by police Tuesday with a warrant used to seize property.
The rapper, who recently announced the Thanksgiving release date of his third project this year, No Ceilings 2, owes about $2 million to jet leasing company Signature Group, the Miami New Times reported. Per a court judge’s orders, Wayne is also due to pay the company $200,000 in attorney fees.
While the rapper spent time in Los Angeles, Tuesday’s raid was meant to confiscate assets which can be used to pay the debt, TMZ reported. The approved Levy warrant gave Miami-Dade police permission to break the mansion’s locks and seize whatever may be of value inside the home.
Earlier this year, the rapper’s home was the object of interest after a shooting was reported on the premises. WSVN reports SWAT team members spent a prolonged amount of time at the house but did not discover any wrongdoing or evidence of a shoot out. The incident was labeled a hoax.
