LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) — Lisa Vanderpump commented on Kim Richards’ recent struggles Thursday.
The 54-year-old reality star addressed her 50-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star’s continued issues with sobriety at her Hero Dog Awards benefit luncheon at Pump restaurant. Vanderpump seemed to confirm Richards will not appear on season 6.
“Well, I’m sorry Kim’s not here because of the situation,” she told Us Weekly magazine. “That’s the thing. But I think her sobriety is more important than any reality show. And I think a lot of people recognize that fact and that’s probably why she’s not in this season … it’s a sad situation.”
Richards has struggled with alcohol abuse for years, and raised fresh concern when she was arrested for shoplifting earlier this month. The troubled star’s family is reportedly considering placing the former child actress on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
“I see what’s been going on since then,” Vanderpump said of Richards to Entertainment Tonight this week. “She’s told us she’s struggling.” Singer and dancer Erika Jayne will reportedly join Real Housewives for season 6 in light of Richards’ and Brandi Glanville’s departures.
