NEW YORK, May 17 (UPI) — The Lonely Island joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots to perform a live television-friendly version of “I’m On A Boat.”
The group, consisting of Adam Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, donned perfectly-pressed sailor uniforms alongside the Tonight Show crew. Armed with kazoos, a rainbow xylophone, bongo drums and a rubber duck, the group sat in close quarters to harmonize the comedic tune.
The song’s originally explicit lyrics were also cleaned up for the Tonight Show performance Monday night, with the exception of a few surprise lines involving relations with a mermaid.
Actor Taccone participated in the song only minimally, opting instead for a “dunce” hat and a book titled The Joy of Land.
Lonely Island first released “I’m On A Boat,” featuring T-Pain, in 2009 on its first album Incredibad. Its accompanying music video aired on Saturday Night Live in the same year.
