LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) — A bicyclist was killed in Los Angeles after a shipping container fell onto him when it was dislodged from a tractor-trailer when it drove under a railroad bridge.
The incident happened at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when the shipping container “became disengaged” and crushed the bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher Melanie Flores told the Los Angeles Times the truck struck a railroad bridge on Santa Fe Avenue near Warnock Way — causing the container to fall off.
An investigation into the incident has been launched. The victim’s identity has not been released.
