WAKEFIELD , N.H., Dec. 30 (UPI) — A man died when his car stuck a vehicle carrying four U.S. Secret Service agents in New Hampshire.
Bruce Danforth, 45, died at the scene Tuesday evening after his car crossed the center line of a road and collided head-on with a car carrying the agents in Wakefield, N.H. Danforth’s passengers, Natasha Meroski, 35, and Kristina Buswell, 21, were injured and hospitalized, as were the on-duty agents.
The Secret Service acknowledged the accident but did not identify the injured agents’ names or explain why they were in New Hampshire. One agent was transferred from a local hospital to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had visited Wakefield earlier in the day, but it’s unclear if the agents were on her detail.
The incident was one of several recent accidents involving Secret Service agents.
In March, two senior Secret Service members were the focus of a Homeland Security investigation for allegedly operating a government vehicle while intoxicated, and running the car into a security barricade at the White House. In November, Secret Service agents driving an armored sports utility vehicle and a limousine usually used to transport U.S. Vice President Joe Biden struck and killed a man at a Washington, D.C., intersection.
