Man who camped in Lana Del Rey’s Malibu home charged with stalking, burglary

MALIBU, Calif., Dec. 4 (UPI) — A man found to have been camping in Lana Del Rey’s unoccupied Malibu mansion was formally charged with stalking and burglary Thursday.

Zachary Benton Self, 19, allegedly stalked the singer — born Elizabeth Grant — on social media before breaking into her home as it underwent construction, L.A. Daily News reports.

Self reportedly never came in contact with Grant, 30, while construction workers on the site reported him to police Monday after discovering his set-up in the home’s garage. He fled the scene before authorities arrived, but was apprehended in Santa Monica Tuesday, according to Entertainment Tonight.

A collection of notes and a laptop computer were lifted from the makeshift indoor campsite, leading authorities to believe Self was “clearly infatuated with Lana.”

If convicted on stalking and burglary charges, Self may face up to six years and eight months in prison.
