FAYETTEVILLE, Ga., June 21 (UPI) — Marvel fans were thrilled to see Chris Pratt and Tom Holland cross paths on set this week.

The 37-year-old American star and 20-year-old British actor, who play Star-Lord and Spider-Man, met while filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, respectively.

Pratt and director James Gunn were wrapping up the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel at Pinewood Studios outside Atlanta, Ga., on Monday when Holland and director Jon Watts arrived to start work on the Spider-Man reboot.

“Many blessings today to the star of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland, and the film’s director, Jon Watts (standing in here for Jon is some dude that was passing by), as they begin their shoot in Atlanta just as we are ending ours,” Gunn wrote on Instagram.

“I don’t think we could pass the Marvel baton to two nicer, better guys who care more about what they’re doing. Kill it!” the director added.

Holland also has the blessing of Stan Lee, who co-created Spider-Man with artist Steve Ditko in 1962. The former Marvel president praised the actor while appearing at Denver Comic Con over the weekend.

“Oh, he’s wonderful. I was with him the other day. He is great,” Lee said of Holland. “I can’t believe it. It’s as if we created a living being to be Spider-Man, and it turned out to be Tom.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. opens in theaters May 5, 2017, just two months before Holland makes his standalone debut as Spider-Man in Homecoming. The reboot will open July 7, 2017.
