CANNES, France, May 16 (UPI) — Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey has responded in his typical, easygoing fashion to detractors of his movie The Sea of Trees.
Directed by Gus Van Sant and co-starring Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts, the drama drew boos when it was screened Friday at France’s Cannes Film Festival.
McConaughey was asked about the negative reaction during a panel discussion about the movie Saturday, The Wrap reported.
“I heard that,” the actor acknowledged. “And I would say, real simply, anyone has as much right to boo as they do to ovate.”
