LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 (UPI) — Matthew McConaughey’s virtually unknown YouTube channel has been discovered by Reddit.

With little fanfare despite posting under a verified account, the Oscar winner posted his first video in September of 2014 and continued to release content on the site periodically ever since.

McConaughey’s most recent clips include trailers for two new animated films he stars in including the recently released Kubo and the Two Strings and the upcoming Sing due in theaters Dec. 21.

Originally the actor had only amassed 240 followers on YouTube according to Advertising Age until Reddit users on /r/ videos discovered the channel and quickly flooded it with subscribers.

“I’m genuinely shocked that a AAA actor can put out a video and get under 1000 views in a year,” wrote Reddit user ini0n.

“Watching him talk with such passion and then seeing him barely get any views, I just started to feel for a multi million blockbuster Hollywood actor. Didn’t know that was possible,” user King_TG added.

Now McConaughey can reach a wider audience with his movie trailers and videos promoting various charities with close to 75,000 subscribers and counting.
