Metal ramp impales SUV, driver gets only a scratch

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 14 (UPI) — Firefighters in California shared a photo of a vehicle with a large piece of metal protruding from the windshield and said the driver suffered only a scratch.

The San Jose Fire Department shared a picture on Facebook of the BMW X5 sport-utility vehicle with a metal ramp lodged in the windshield.

The image evokes memories of a grisly death scene from horror film Final Destination 2, but the fire department said the driver of the SUV suffered only a minor scratch on the arm and was able to pull over to the shoulder of southbound Interstate 280 after the 2 p.m. Friday crash.

The department said the ramp flew off the back of a truck and bounced off the road before striking the SUV’s windshield.

“Be careful out there on the road peoples! Driver survived with just a scratch on the arm ‪#‎lucky‬,” the department said on Facebook.
