DALLAS (AP) — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer says he’s in favor of pushing the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft to allow them more time to make their decision.
Meyer, speaking the day before the first College Football Playoff title game, said he believes that players should have as much time as possible to decide whether to make themselves available for the NFL draft. Players have only 72 hours to decide after the title game.
Oregon coach Mark Helfrich says new rules which give players a more accurate idea of where they might be drafted are helpful.
Players who are at least three years out of high school can declare for the NFL draft by Thursday.
