NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (UPI) — Olympic champion Michael Phelps played a game of Egg Russian Roulette on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night and wasn’t as lucky out of the water.

Phelps and Fallon took turns smashing eggs — which were painted to look like Olympic swimmers — on their heads without knowing which were cooked and which were raw. The first person to crack two raw eggs on their head loses.

“Oh man, I’m nervous,” Phelps laughed as he picked up his first egg.

“I love seeing Michael Phelps nervous,” Fallon told the crowd. “It’s great!”

Phelps lightly cracked the first egg on his forehead, but a goggle-clad Fallon told him “you gotta do the whole thing.”

“I hit it and I felt it,” Phelps said about the raw egg running down his face.

As Fallon was preparing to choose his egg, he pulled his yellow goggles over his eyes and imitated Phelps’ pre-swim arm flap.

“Twenty-three gold but you’re not gonna get the gold here,” Fallon said after smashing his egg which turned out to be hard-boiled.

“Golden yolks,” he added.

Phelps lost the game on his second egg, which he realized was raw the moment he picked it up from the carton.

“Thank you to the greatest Olympic athlete of all time, Michael Phelps,” Fallon said after winning the game.
