MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 16 (UPI) — Travelers at a Minnesota airport have been presented with a new way to pass time, as Minneapolis-St.Paul International airport recently opened a 12,000-square-foot golf facility.
Guests can use one of six virtual golf simulators, containing 54 courses to sneak in a round or two of golf before their flight takes off.
In addition to the simulators, the facility features a pro shop, restaurant, putting green and is staffed with instructors available to provide quick lessons.
First announced in February, is the first of its kind and was designed by the PGA of America and Wexford golf to be a “golf lifestyle facility.”
Joel Burger if Wexford golf told CBS Minnesota that he believes the addition will make Minneapolis-St.Paul International airport a destination for avid golfers.
“There’s people that are telling us they’re routing their connection through here,” he said. “And there’s also people that are making it a point to make sure that they have enough time to spend here by either showing up for their flight early, or being okay with a longer layover.”
The facility’s official website lists prices for the simulator between $40 and $60 depending on length with lessons available for an additional $15 to $75.
One minor inconvenience is that TSA rules prohibit guests from bringing their own clubs into the airport but the facility will provide their own.
