Modric out of Madrid’s clash with Valencia

Madrid (AFP) – Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has been withdrawn from coach Zinedine Zidane’s squad for Sunday’s vital La Liga clash at home to Valencia.

“The central midfielder will not make the squad list as a precaution, due to a slight muscular strain,” Madrid said in a statement.

Real are already without the in-form Gareth Bale due to a knee sprain and goalkeeper Keylor Navas with an achilles problem.

Zidane’s men are just one point behind La Liga leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid with two games to play.
