Mom Esther Jenner reacts to Caitlyn Jenner’s debut

KAMIAH, Idaho, June 2 (UPI) — Esther Jenner is happy for Caitlyn Jenner, but still adjusting to her transition.

The 88-year-old mother and grandmother reacted to the 65-year-old star’s public debut as a woman following the latter’s Vanity Fair cover reveal Monday. Caitlyn Jenner is the third-born child of Esther Jenner and William Hugh Jenner, and has two living siblings.

“She’s beautiful!” Jenner told Access Hollywood. “I was there last week … And I met Caitlyn. She is… so much more at ease. I still have to call him Bruce. His father and I named him that. It’s going to be a struggle for me to get used to the change, but happily so… I’m very happy for him — or her.”

Many have compared Caitlyn Jenner’s new look to actresses Jessica Lange, Geena Davis, Janice Dickinson and model Brooke Shields, but Jenner was reminded of her granddaughter Samantha, saying, “There is a lot of Sam!”

Caitlyn Jenner received an outpouring of support following her magazine debut, including from daughter Kendall Jenner, former stepdaughters Kim and Khloe Kardashian, and journalist Maria Shriver. Others, such as Drake Bell, offended with their reaction to her transition.
