FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Yoan Moncada has arrived at the Red Sox offices.
Boston was close to a deal to sign the celebrated 19-year-old from Cuba. Wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and sneakers, he entered the club’s spring training complex just after 8 a.m and went straight into the offices.
General manager Ben Cherington previously declined to confirm an agreement with Moncada, a switch-hitting, multi-skilled middle infielder who was heavily courted by multiple teams. Moncada had a physical scheduled for Wednesday in Boston and Florida.
