Mountain lion caught in net near California bowling alley

SAN DIMAS, Calif., Nov. 9 (UPI) — Authorities in California said they captured a young mountain lion found stalking a town’s streets near stores and a bowling alley.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the small mountain lion was spotted wandering near a bowling alley in San Dimas about 7:45 p.m. Sunday and deputies kept watch over the wild animal while awaiting assistance from animal control officers.

Sheriff’s Lt. Thomas Reid told the Los Angeles Times an official with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control used a net to capture the mountain lion without the use of tranquilizers just after 8:30 p.m.

Officials said the California Department of Fish and Game is expected to take custody of the lion Monday.
