LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30 (UPI) — Nat Wolff may star in an adaptation of the Japanese manga Death Note.
The 20-year-old American actor is reportedly in talks to play Light Yagami in the forthcoming horror film. You’re Next helmer Adam Wingard is attached to direct from a script by Fantastic Four writer Jeremy Slater.
Niija Kuykendall and Nik Mavinkurve will oversee the project for Warner Bros. Pictures, with Doug Davison and Brian Witten as executive producers. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka will serve as co-producers.
Death Note was written by Tsugumi Ohba, who published 12 volumes between 2003 and 2006. The series follows Light, a high school student, who uses a spirit’s notebook to kill by writing the victim’s name. The character is pursued by the detective L.
Wolff came to fame on the Nickelodeon series The Naked Brothers Band, and subsequently appeared in an adaptation of John Green novel The Fault in Our Stars. He later starred in an adaptation of Green’s book Paper Towns, and last appeared in The Intern with Anne Hathaway.
