WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 (UPI) — The Smithsonian’s National Zoo shared video of a giant panda cub undergoing a veterinary exam less than a day after being the first of a set of twins to be born.
The video, posted to YouTube, shows the newborn panda squeaking and squealing through its first medical exam about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a mere 11 hours after its birth at 5:35 p.m. the previous day.
The cub was the first twin born to giant panda Mei Xiang Saturday night, the second cub came at about 10:07 p.m.
The zoo said the mother and newborn cubs appeared to be doing well Sunday.
Officials said veterinarians will not know the sexes of the cubs until a later date.
