Nationals’ Scherzer pitching perfect game thru 7 vs Pirates

WASHINGTON (AP) — Nationals ace Max Scherzer is pitching a perfect game through seven innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Nationals Park.

Scherzer has struck out nine and thrown 78 pitches Saturday. He also hit a single in the third, and the Nationals lead 5-0

The Pirates twice hit balls to the warning track in Scherzer’s first time through the order.

In his previous start, Scherzer was perfect at Milwaukee last Sunday until Carlos Gomez led off the seventh with a bloop single.
