Oct. 17 (UPI) — The U.S. Navy has selected a Leonardo subsidiary to supply ground-based instrument landing systems for use at U.S. Naval Stations.
As many as 31 ILS systems are to be supplied under the $20.9 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from U.S. Naval Air Systems Command.
Leonardo said it will supply its Model 2100 Instrument Landing System with collocated Distance Measuring Equipment.
“This contract further establishes Leonardo as the preferred provider of ILS system to the U.S. Department of Defense, having delivered over 144 systems to the U.S. Air Force,” the company said in a news release.
Leonardo said it is also under contract to deliver over 500 Model 1118A/1119A DME systems to the Federal Aviation Administration for its current and NextGen DME requirements.
