Netflix to host ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival with four 90-minute episodes

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) — Netflix will reportedly host the revival of popular television program Gilmore Girls with four mini-movies.

According to TV Line and Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service has come to an agreement with Warner Bros. to produce the series revival. Instead of 10 short episodes, the former CW show’s revamp will get four extended 90-minute episodes written by creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

The project is still reportedly in its early stages as producers are still in negotiations with Palladino and actresses Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and others. Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James in the original series, will not be expected to rejoin the cast as she still stars in her own television program Mike & Molly and is frequently working on films.

Although no complete confirmations have been made, Graham, who played GG’s quirky mother figure Lorelai Gilmore during the show’s run between 2000 and 2007, tweeted a message of hope linking TV Line. “DUDES. I can’t confirm this. But I also can’t deny this…” she wrote Monday.
