New England Patriots’ Bill Belichick “doesn’t care” about NFL midseason grades

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Nov. 11 (UPI) — A future Hall of Fame football coach gave the type of token response reporters expected Wednesday.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick wasn’t amused when a reporter told him at a press conference that Tom Brady would be midseason MVP.

“That’s great,” Belichick told the reporter. “But honestly I don’t think anybody is really focused on that. We’re focused on the Giants. And some midseason report card, who cares? What difference does it make? Give me an F. Give me a C+. Right now we’re focused on the Giants. That’s all I really care about.”

Belichick may not have time to think about midseason grades because he was too busy polishing off his four Vince Lombardi Trophies. In 21 seasons with the Patriots and Cleveland Browns, Belichick has piled up 219 wins and 109 losses. Belichick’s Patriots teams have won 10 or more games in a season for 12 consecutive years. Bellichick’s career teams have won 13 division titles and six conference championships.

“I don’t give grades,” Belichick said. “I’m worried about the Giants. We’re trying to beat the Giants. I don’t really care about some midseason midterm grades. Give me whatever you want.”
Brady, 38, has completed 225-of-328 passes for 2,709 yards, 22 touchdowns and two interceptions for the 8-0 Patriots. Brady won the NFL’s MVP award in 2007 and 2010. NFL.com and ESPN.com reporters overwhelmingly support Brady as the midseason MVP.

The Patriots kickoff at 4:25 p.m. Sunday against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
