FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Nov. 30 (UPI) — You would expect more from someone who made a living in public relations.

But the New England Patriots held former NFL P.R. chief Joe Browne accountable for his insensitive tweet Tuesday.

Browne tweeted about the Chapecoense soccer team that was involved in a deadly plane crash Monday. The tragic accident killed most of the members of the Brazilian squad and members of the media, leaving 71 dead in total.

“NFL club partnership so strong that if there were tragedy similar to Brazilian soccer crash other NFL clubs would restock affected team,” Browne tweeted Tuesday.

“Poor choice of words & disrespectful to all who lost lives,” the Patriots tweeted in a response. “Players are not stock; they’re the most important people in NFL.”

Browne deleted the tweet. He has since admitted that it was “ill-timed and poorly worded.”

Many NFL fans have since commended the Patriots on its response to Browne.
