CANDIA, N.H., Nov. 10 (UPI) — The owner of a now defunct water park in New Hampshire is staging a protest to prevent the sale of his former business.
46-year-old Kevin Dumont, owner and founder of Liquid Planet Water park in Candia, has chained himself to the top of one of the park’s 30-foot waterslides in hopes of saving the property from foreclosure.
“I am not crazy but I have chained myself to the top of the waterpark slide tower here at Liquid Planet in Candia, NH,” Dumont wrote in a Facebook post. “I am doing this in a last ditch effort to save all that I have created. The bank has foreclosed on me and is auctioning the property on December 2nd so I am staying up here to try and save it.”
The park was ordered to be closed in August of this year after The Department of Environmental Services discovered several health and safety hazards, including excessive amounts of bacteria and unapproved slides.
Despite these issues, Dumont encouraged Facebook friends to spread his cause in hopes of finding someone willing to invest in the property which saw 35,000 visitors during the parks most recent season.
Dumont has pledged to remain atop the slide for 24 hours every day until the park is saved.
