New Orleans Saints accidentally email entire NFL, lose out on quarterback

CHICAGO, July 2 (UPI) — NFL public relations offices have their hands full.

On Friday, ESPN reported that the New Orleans Saints lost out on quarterback Connor Shaw. The Cleveland Browns waived Shaw a day earlier. When the Saints went to place its waiver claim for Shaw, it emailed the entire NFL instead of just the league office. Fox Sports’ Peter Schrager reported the blunder.

That email alerted all other front offices of the Saints’ intention to pic up the fourth-string quarterback.

The Chicago Bears ultimately picked up Shaw and already had a higher priority waiver claim than the Saints. New Orleans has been rumored to be looking for a back up behind Drew Brees, Garrett Grayson, and Luke McCown. Shaw joins Brian Hoyer, David Fales, and Dalyn Williams, behind Jay Cutler in Chicago.

Shaw, 24, has completed 14-of-28 passes for zero touchdowns and one interception in one NFL start. He was placed on injured reserve last September after suffering a broken thumb on his throwing hand.
