NEW YORK, Dec. 11 (UPI) — While most New York Knicks fans have been frustrated for years, it seems the heat is finally getting to Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony, who complained Wednesday about the lack of calls from referees, is also upset about his team’s slow pace.
“Losing is frustrating,” told ESPN’s Ian Begley Monday. “I don’t want this to be an ongoing situation or an ongoing feeling where we have to come into the locker room and explain why we’re losing basketball games.”
According to Begley’s report, Anthony is irked about the team’s lack of success in transition and its current half-court pace.
The Knicks rank No. 23 in pace averaging 97.18, according to league statistics.
After falling in its fourth straight game Thursday to Sacramento, the Knicks [10-14] rank No. 12 in the eastern conference.
Anthony, 31, is averaging 21.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 23 games this season. Anthony is being paid $22,875,000 this season, $24,559,380 in 2016 and $26,243,760 in 2017. In 2018, Anthony is due $27,928,140, but has an option for early termination.
