NFL unveils ‘color rush’ jerseys, considers colorblindness

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 (UPI) — Swag-craving NFL fans will have new jerseys to cop off of store shelves this year.

And they are colorful.

The NFL unveiled its 2016 ‘color rush’ jerseys Tuesday. While some teams opted to tune up its accent colors and go with a full orange, green, red, or black kits, others opted for a solid white look with minimal accented colors.

Some of my favorites jersey kits include those of the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, and Cincinnati Bengals.

The Saints and Bengals both opted for all white combinations of jerseys and pants, with its respective token helmets. The Saints jerseys feature beautiful solid gold accents on the sleeves, numbers, and pants striping. The Bengals jerseys are all white, but feature black numbers and white tiger stripes. The jerseys have one of its three sleeve stripes colored orange.

The Seahawks might have the boldest uniform. Its jerseys and pants are florescent ‘action’ green from chin to toe, while the team will sport its usual helmet. The Dolphins also went bold with an all-orange getup. Miami will sport orange jerseys and pants with a white stripe on the side of the pants and white numbers. The Dolphins will sport its token white helmet.

The Bills face the New York Jets to begin Thursday Night Football color rush action on Sept. 15 at Buffalo. The Houston Texans face the New England Patriots next Thursday. The Miami Dolphins then face the Cincinnati Bengals, followed by the Arizona Cardinals at the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers, Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers, New York Giants at Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs, Rams at Seahawks, Dolphins at New York Jets, Giants at Philadelphia Eagles, Bengals at Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Indianapolis Colts, Washington, and Detroit Lions will have to wait until 2017 for its color rush jerseys. Other teams decided to wait to unveil its full colorful options until next season to avoid problems for colorblind football fans and viewers, according to the New York Times.
