LONDON, March 30 (UPI) — Niall Horan says he and One Direction have started work on their new album.
The 21-year-old singer revealed as much Sunday on Twitter, writing, “Had a sit down last night with the label, started organising our writing sessions for the next album! [Expletive] yeaaaahhhh! Can’t wait!”
The news comes in the wake of Zayn Malik’s departure from the English-Irish boy band. The 22-year-old singer announced he is quitting last week after exiting the group’s On the Road world tour several days before.
Horan and remaining members Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles previously confirmed they would continue to perform as a foursome. One Direction last debuted Four in November 2014, and is expected to record and release a new album this year.
I can see a lot of people thanking us for staying but your the real Heros here thanks for not thinking it’s finished— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) March 29, 2015
Malik will reportedly pursue a solo career, and is rumored to be working with One Direction record label Syco Music. He and his former band mates formed One Direction in 2010, and competed on the British version of The X Factor before releasing debut album Up All Night in 2011.
