TORONTO, June 20 (UPI) — Singer Nick Jonas, during his acceptance speech Sunday for the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, took a moment to remember the Orlando shooting victims and pay tribute to their families.

“It’s been a tough couple of weeks, a lot of hate and violence in the world, but it’s moments like this where we can all come together and celebrate the good times and be full of joy and happiness,” he said.

Wearing leather and holding his award up toward the sky, Jonas also said he appreciated the iHeartRadio honor. “It’s a beautiful thing so thank you for this,” US Weekly reported.

Jonas received the International Artist of the Year award in part due to his solo albums which include Last Year Was Complicated, E! reported.

“I dedicate this to all the families and victims of the shootings recently,” Jonas said from the stage. “We love you and we have not forgotten.”

A shooter killed 49 people and injured another 53 at Pulse, a popular Orlando gay nightclub on June 12. The gunman, Omar Mateen, was shot and killed by police inside the club as he holed up in the bathroom.
