NEW YORK, Aug. 29 (UPI) — Nick Jonas showed his support for brother Joe Jonas at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

The 23-year-old singer, who performed his song “Bacon” during the ceremony, discussed his relationship with his 27-year-old sibling in an interview with E! News on the red carpet.

“I think it’s really rare that two people from the same band are able to break off, do their own things and have success in their own right, so I feel really fortunate,” Nick said.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations about just the unique position that we’re in, and it’s kind of bizarre to be able to share this after all we’ve shared together,” he added.

Nick, Joe and their brother Kevin Jonas performed as the pop group Jonas Brothers from 2005 to 2013. Nick has since pursued a solo career, while Joe performs with his band DNCE.

“It’s incredible,” Nick said of DNCE’s nomination for Best New Artist. The dance-rock group beat out Desiigner, Zara Larsson, Lukas Graham and Bryson Tiller to win the award.

Nick and Joe cemented their brotherly bond by getting matching tattoos prior to the ceremony. The siblings both got arrows inked on the back of their arms, as seen in a photo Nick shared on Snapchat.

Nick released his third solo album, Last Year Was Complicated, in June, and is presently on his Future Now tour with singer Demi Lovato. Joe and DNCE released their debut record, Swaay, in October.
