No. 3 Gonzaga cruises past Saint Mary’s 68-47

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Kevin Pangos scored 14 points as No. 3 Gonzaga cruised past archrival Saint Mary’s 68-47 on Thursday night to take sole possession of first place in the West Coast Conference.

Przemek Karnowski added 12 points and Kyle Wiltjer 11 for Gonzaga (19-1, 8-0 West Coast), whose only loss this year is at No. 7 Arizona. This is the best start in program history.

Brad Waldow scored 14 points to lead Saint Mary’s (15-4, 7-1), which saw its nine-game winning streak snapped.

Gonzaga won by holding Saint Mary’s to 36 percent shooting, and going on a 22-2 run midway through the second half to blow open a close game. The Gaels shot just 2 of 15 from 3-point range.

Gonzaga has won 12 straight games and has the nation’s longest home winning streak at 35, dating to 2012.
