FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 29 (UPI) — A Dynamic Airways passenger jet caught fire Thursday as it was taxing at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, releasing large plumes of black smoke.
Emergency officials at the scene said all passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the Boeing 767.
Greg Meyer, a representative of the airport, told the local CBS affiliate an engine of the aircraft caught fire while it was on the tarmac. The plane was bound for Venezuela.
Crews on the ground were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
There were between 180 and 200 passengers on board the plane at the time of the incident.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
