COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The national champion Ohio State football team is back home.
About 75 fans greeted the Buckeyes on Tuesday as they arrived at a Columbus airport. They’re fresh off a 42-20 victory over Oregon at the inaugural championship game of the College Football Playoff on Monday night in Dallas.
Coach Urban Meyer and the players slapped hands with the fans who were bundled up in scarlet and gray coats in 20-degree weather at Rickenbacker International Airport.
Some of the players signed a few autographs before boarding buses for a short ride back to campus where more fans were waiting to meet the team.
The university says plans for a formal celebration to honor the football team are still in the works.
