LOS ANGELES, June 22 (UPI) — Oliver Hudson, went on Instagram Sunday to convey an unconventional Father’s Day message.
The Rules of Engagement actor posted a photo of himself and little sister, Kate Hudson, as kids with their estranged biological father Bill Hudson, with the caption: “Happy abandonment day…”

According to E! News, both siblings have been outspoken about their father’s lack of presence in their lives, acknowledging Furious 7 actor Kurt Russell, long-time partner of their mother Goldie Hawn, as more of a father figure.
Kate took to Instagram to celebrate Russell on Father’s Day.
“Pa, just simply….. Thank you. Happy Fathers Day I love you to the moon and back. #HappyFathersDay,” she wrote under a black and white pic of her and Russell sharing a moment of laughter.
Hawn went on Twitter to acknowledge her son saying: “Happy Father’s Day @theoliverhudson you’re simply the best papa!”
E! News also mentioned that earlier this year Oliver wrote a “heartwarming” message to Kurt for his 64th birthday in March.
“Happy birthday to the greatest dad in Santa Monica…I love you more than you realize…” he captioned an Instagram pic. “Before you came into my life, I was only potential and you made me, forced me, to find my confidence, my independence and strive for the elusive fearlessness that you so matter of factly possess…I look up to you and always will…”
