LONDON, Oct. 16 (UPI) — One Direction released the single “Perfect” from their forthcoming album Friday.
The track is the second single to debut from the band’s new record, Morning in the A.M., and was preceded by the song “Drag Me Down.”
“Perfect” was reportedly inspired by Harry Styles’ relationship with singer Taylor Swift. The pair were linked in 2012, and the song includes the lyrics, “And if you like cameras flashing every time we go out/(Oh, yeah)/And if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about/Baby, I’m perfect.”
Swift is well known for writing songs about her romances, and is said to have penned several about Styles on her album 1989. “Style” is believed to be about the 21-year-old English pop star.
Morning in the A.M. will be the band’s first release without Zayn Malik. The 22-year-old singer left One Direction in March, and subsequently signed a solo deal with RCA Records. His former bandmates will take a hiatus to pursue their own solo careers starting in March 2016.
