LONDON, Aug. 25 (UPI) — One Direction took to Twitter Monday to address rumors the band was splitting up, reassuring fans that they have nothing to worry about.
Band members Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne tweeted that the group would only be taking an extended break sometime next year.
“Ok so Lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year,” Horan tweeted out to his 23 million followers.
Tomlinson joined in with: “Your support is truly indescribable! It’s just a break :) we’re not going anywhere!!,” while Liam wrapped up their thoughts by saying “Thank you you much for everything you have done for us it’s been the most amazing five years and there;s so much more to come.”
Bandmate Harry Styles has yet to comment on the matter.
Rumors of One Direction permanently breaking up come after the band just released a new music video for their hit single Drag Me Down, the British boy band’s first single since former member Zayn Malik announced his departure back in March. Since then, Malik signed a solo record deal with RCA in July.
One Direction is currently performing across North America as part of their On the Road Again tour.
