One killed, several injured in explosion at Istanbul metro station

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Dec. 1 (UPI) — At least one person died after an explosion Tuesday at the Bayrampaşa metro station in Istanbul, Turkey.

All trains have been suspended and the station was evacuated. Reports indicate at least one person was killed and several were wounded.

The cause of the incident was under investigation, but Turkish television station Haberturk reported a power transformer may have exploded.

Electricity was cut off at the station and at nearby buildings after the explosion and all nearby roads were shut down.
