Pacers’ Paul George gets warm reception in season debut

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Paul George is getting a warm welcome back Sunday.

A little more than eight months after gruesomely snapping his leg in a Team USA scrimmage game, Indiana’s two-time All-Star was set to make his season debut against Miami.

Everyone seems to be rooting for him.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who coached the American team, says George handled the adversity “magnificently.” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra calls it one of the NBA’s “good” stories this season.

Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was scheduled to present George with the honorary dog tags other U.S. team members received last summer. And a growing legion of Pacers’ fans showed up in George’s new jersey, No. 13.
