SANTIAGO, Chile, Oct. 15 (UPI) — A passenger aboard a Sky Airline flight in the Chilean capital captured the moment one of the plane’s engine coverings started breaking apart during takeoff.
A passenger aboard Sky Airline Flight H2-112 from Santiago to Copiapo captured video of the Airbus A319-100’s left engine appearing to break apart during takeoff Wednesday morning.
The airline confirmed a piece of the engine cover partially detached during takeoff and the plane landed back in Santiago about 25 minutes after departing.
Sky Airline said the plane’s 137 passengers were not at risk during the incident and were reassigned to another flight.
