Patriots fan gives beer to Eagles’ Connor Barwin

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Dec. 7 (UPI) — The Philadelphia Eagles have had a dismal season, but kept fans enthralled with Sunday’s win at New England.

And it wasn’t only Eagles fans who were gracious following the victory.

After the game, linebacker Connor Barwin received a beer from a Patriots fan.

Barwin, who had six tackles and two sacks in the 35-28 upset victory, also made good on a bet he had with Patriots fans.

Before the game, Barwin was being heckled by the Patriots fans at Gillette Stadium, when he said they should buy him a beer after an Eagles victory.

Improbable as it was, Barwin had his brewing wish granted.

“I go out to the field and warm up by myself early and some Patriots fans—that these stadiums now have access where they’re right up on the field—and they were kind of messing with me,” Barwin told the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show on Monday. “Talking about how I wasn’t going to get any sacks, we weren’t going to win, blah, blah, blah. And I just said make sure you have a beer ready for me after we win. And sure enough, we won and they had a Bud Light ready for me so I grabbed it on my way out.”

Barwin, 29, has 35 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 12 games this season for the 5-7 Eagles.

The Eagles were on a three game losing streak before the victory at Foxborough.
