SAVANNAH, Ga., July 7 (UPI) — Paula Deen outraged fans by sharing a photo of son Bobby Deen in brownface Tuesday.
The 68-year-old celebrity chef tweeted and deleted a picture of herself and Bobby Deen dressed up as I Love Lucy characters Lucy and Ricky Ricardo for #TransformationTuesday. Deen’s son wore dark makeup to supposedly emulate Cuban-American actor Desi Arnaz.
The post sparked fresh accusations of racism, and concern Deen learned nothing from the near-collapse of her empire. The Food Network and countless sponsors dropped Deen after she admitted in a 2013 deposition to using racial slurs.
.@Paula_Deen, saw that you just deleted this Tweet. Don’t worry, I saved it for you. pic.twitter.com/1RcifEXYFD— Spencer Althouse (@SpencerAlthouse) July 7, 2015
Deen apologized several times following her racial slur scandal, and was poised to make her comeback with subscriber-based service The Paula Deen Network, a cooking radio show and podcast, and new TV spot Paula Deen’s Kitchen.
