Peta Murgatroyd, Maksim Chmerkovskiy planning a ‘big wedding’

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI) — Peta Murgatroyd and fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy are already planning their wedding.

The 29-year-old Australian and 35-year-old American professional dancers discussed their forthcoming nuptials with reporters over the weekend. The two, who previously dated in 2013, reconciled this year and got engaged last week.

“He’s the love of my life,” Murgatroyd gushed to Entertainment Tonight on Friday before revealing that the wedding will take place in Los Angeles. “I want to do it all. I’m cool with that. He can just sit there and turn up for the big day.”

“[I’m thinking] a castle with a carriage,” she added to People at a fundraiser the next day. “I do want to do a long train. And I just want my loved ones around me — only the people that just genuinely adore us.” Chmerkovskiy chimed in, “That’s about a 500-person wedding.”

The American dancer proposed to Murgatroyd onstage with a custom Cantamessa ring after their performance in Sway on Dec. 5. He kept his plans a secret from their family and friends, telling ET he wanted the proposal to be “a surprise for everybody.”

“I decided not to say anything to anybody. No mom, no dad,” he said. “Everybody had an amazing moment that was very unforgettable. And things like this need to be unforgettable. It needs to be special. But I told her I’m not planning anything else! I’m done.”

Murgatroyd showed off her engagement ring at the Sway Alfalit Gala hours after accepting Chmerkovskiy’s proposal. The Australian dancer was recently forced to sit out Dancing with the Stars season 21 due to injury, while Chmerkovskiy last competed in season 18.
