WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 (UPI) — A viral photo portraying former Addams Family child actress Christina Ricci as the clan’s matriarch, Morticia Addams, has been confirmed fake.
Originally posted on a Tumblr blog, Mystical Enchantment, the image is a doctored version of a promotional still featuring former Morticia actress, Anjelica Huston from the 1990s.
The image — showing a stoic Ricci in a deep plunging black gown acting as a new take on the character — flipped netizens upside down before it was revealed the image was a flipped version of the original still. Initially, the image showed a solemn, sensual Huston wearing a more conservative, but still skin-tight, black gown.
Ricci was 11 years old when she debuted as Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film remake of the television show aired during the ’60s. In 1993, she returned to the family in Addams Family Values. In 1999, Ricci starred alongside Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow and played Lizzie Borden in mini-series, Lizzie Borden Chronicles.
