SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 15 (UPI) — Kahala Brands, the owner of Cold Stone Creamery ice cream shop announced it has acquired frozen yogurt chain Pinkberry.
Pinkberry has expanded to 260 stores in 20 countries since it opened in California in 2005. It joins Kahala Brand’s 18 fast food brands in the quick-serve restaurant, industry, including Blimpie and Planet Smoothie.
Terms of Monday’s acquisition were not revealed.
Pinkberry’s operations will be run from Kahala Brand’s Scottsdale, Ariz., headquarters.
“The Pinkberry brand is known worldwide for its super-premium frozen yogurt and truly is the concept that reignited the frozen yogurt category over a decade ago,” Kahala brands CEO Michael Serruya said in a statement. “We very much look forward to bringing the support services and best practices we have from within Kahala Brands and aligning with the Pinkberry franchisees to help maximize the brand’s potential for continued evolution and success. It’s an excellent strategic fit for our company and presents an exciting opportunity for future development.”
