Platini calls reports of a 90-day suspension ‘insidious’

NYON, Switzerland (AP) — UEFA President Michel Platini says reports that he will be given a 90-day suspension by the FIFA ethics committee are “insidious” and an attempt to damage his reputation.

Platini, the favorite to replace FIFA President Sepp Blatter, called the news of his possible suspension a “deliberate leak.”

Blatter is also facing a 90-day suspension after being investigated for financial misconduct.

Platini also says he has submitted the required letters of support for FIFA presidential candidates. The election is scheduled for Feb. 26.
