LOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) — Showrunner Marlene King has clarified earlier statements in which she alluded to the final season of Pretty Little Liars.
The hit mystery drama is not going anywhere, King managed to relay on Twitter late Tuesday night after reports the show was ending went viral among fans. “What I said was ‘This Uber A story that starts on January 12 will end when Season 7 ends.’ I did not say PLL will end,” she wrote.
“Technically I was supposed to say ‘the new big bad’ but let’s get real, it’s ‘uber A,’” the showrunner added.
The clarifying tweet comes after Variety quoted King as saying the Pretty Little Liars storyline will end at the close of its approved seventh season. When asked if she “definitely” wanted the story to end there and did not “want it to go beyond that,” King is quoted as saying, “Correct.”
The ABC Family hit show, however, will not come to an end, as earlier reports have King discussing additional seasons. She told Variety over the summer she and her team will “let the fans tell us what they want. We’re open to that…I’m all for it. Yes, we’re in.”
