STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 27 (UPI) — Prince Oscar of Sweden was christened in a traditional ceremony Friday in Stockholm.

Proud parents Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel held the 2-month-old’s christening at the Royal Chapel in Stockholm Palace. The couple, who also share 4-year-old daughter Princess Estelle, welcomed Oscar on March 2.

News outlets reported Prince Oscar wore the same christening gown his sister, mother and grandfather, King Carl Gustaf, donned at their own baptisms. The infant was also placed in his ancestor King Karl XV’s cradle, according to the Swedish Royal Court.

Swedish royals King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Prince Carl Philip and wife Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine were among the guests in attendance. Archbishop Antje Jackelen officiated the ceremony.

Princess Madeleine, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway were named Prince Carl’s godparents prior to the service. Family friends Hans Anstrom and Oscar Magnuson will also serve as godparents.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel celebrated with their guests at a reception and luncheon after the christening. Prince Oscar is third in line to the Swedish throne, following his mother and sister Princess Estelle.
